Artwork: Frank Lloyd Wright Midway Gardens Sprite Statue 1913-1929 Soft Enamel Pin, 1.25" , Black rubber clutch, Backer card included About Midway Gardens Sprite Statue Sprite was originally part of a large sculpture program for Wright’s Midway Gardens in Chicago, a city block area dedicated to entertainment. The original sculptures were larger than life and overlooked the many open air gardens, restaurants, music, and dance areas in the complex. Demolished in 1929 due to the stock market crash and the ban on liquor, the unique sculptures would have been lost if il hadn't been for the foresight of the demolition contractor who saved them for posterity About Frank Lloyd Wright Frank Lloyd Wright was a pioneering American architect known for his innovative and organic approach to design. He believed that architecture should harmonize with its environment, a philosophy he called "organic architecture." From Today is Art Day
