Kelley Fox Durant Vineyard Chardonnay Lark Block, 2021

This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay. We would enjoy it with roasted duck or chicken over leeks and potatoes. The Durant vineyard, found in the Dundee Hills AVA of Oregon is planted to Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. The Chardonnay for this wine is planted in the Lark Block of the vineyard, known for unusual ancient marine soils, and results in a tense, balanced wine. Also, there is a lovely olive orchard across the street, from which the Durant family manufactures olive oil. It's truly a wonderful setting. The grapes are planted from the Dijon 96 clone, known in Burgundy France to produce wines with elegance and finesse. The 2021 Durant Chardonnay is on the richer side for Kelley Fox wines, but is steely and mineral, much like a subtle Mersault.
