Scientists use these markers in crops and animals alike to predict Genomic Estimated Breeding Values (GEBVs). Unlike GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), which involve direct, laboratory-based transgenic DNA insertion (transgenics), GS identifies favorable existing genetic variations faster than traditional breeding, and without alteration. We as humans have always utilized this process. Our first garden came with it our first Genomic selection. We liked a flower so much, when we moved, we took it with us.
