It's slightly vegetal with a hint of nuttiness and is especially high in antioxidants and amino acids. It's perfect to have straight without needing to add any sugar or cream. Matcha is a type of green tea that originates from Japan. It is made from shade-grown tea leaves that are ground into a powder. This powder is then whisked with hot water to produce a frothy drink. Matcha is traditionally prepared using a chasen bamboo whisk, chawan bowl, and chashaku scoop. The Best Way to Prepare Matcha: There are two basic types of matcha preparations, usucha and koicha. Usucha is the more common preparation, and it uses 2 grams of matcha with 150-200 ml of water. Koicha is a thicker preparation that uses 4-5 grams of matcha with 50-70 ml of water.
