Green Oak Gallnuts (Whole) are a tannin-rich natural material used in natural dyeing—especially to pre-treat cotton and linen before mordanting and dyeing. A tannin bath improves mordant bonding on cellulose fibers, giving cleaner, deeper, more consistent shades. Botanical name: Quercus infectoria Best for: cotton & linen pre-treatment, eco printing, botanical dyeing, iron–tannin darks. Quick use (whole galls): Crush the galls. Use 10% WOF (10 g per 100 g fiber) in a tannin bath, soak overnight, then proceed to mordanting & dyeing. Strain if needed. Notes: Natural batches vary. Store sealed, cool and dry.
