BASIL HERB
Basil is considered sacred in some world cultures. Its name is derived from the Greek word basilikohn, which translates to “royal.” In Italy, basil is a symbol of true love, while in India the herb represents hospitality. There are numerous varieties and cultivars of basil, each one possessing a unique chemical composition. While some basils are more spice or citrusy than others, or offer leaves so large they are used raw in salads, most basils contain the same antioxidant compound eugenol. Basil is also a good source of carotenoids, vitamins and minerals. for educational purposes only This information has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
