Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird
Print: 11x17" Maquette Subject: Lockheed SR-71A Paper: Satin finish heavyweight card stock 2 OPTIONS AVAILABLE! Check out both variants, with different tail numbers and tail art! One of the most iconic aircraft in history, the SR-71 Blackbird was strangely both mysterious and yet extremely well known for its incredible speed and altitude capabilities. The Blackbird's iconic shape earned it the nickname, "Habu," for its evocative shape, that reminded Okinawan locals of the hooded snake of the same name. SR-71A speed and altitude records that were set in its service lifetime remain today, and the aircraft's design remains futuristic: its sleek, tapered outline and shock-cone powered engines were ahead of its time. This print by Third Offset Designs features three different schemes flown by the Blackbird: a "high vis" Air Force scheme worn by USAF birds featuring white letters and full color national markings; a "low vis" variant with red markings and few additional insignia; and a classic NASA scheme, featuring the tail number of the infamous, "YF-12C," used to conceal the aircraft's true nature, given the unacknowledged nature of the program at that time.
