
Boulder Water Tower
When Imagineers took on the task of creating the Boulder Ridge Villas (originally the Villas at Wilderness Lodge) at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, they faced the funny challenge of making these new buildings that would be a decade younger than the original structure look as though they predated it. After all, according to their backstories, Boulder Ridge had been built by a team of railroad workers in the 1860s who thought that it would be the perfect spot to set up camp while they built the transcontinental railway. Then, once the job was finished, they moved on and left it for us. Boulder Ridge has a place in so many of our hearts. Whether you’re touring The Carolwood Pacific Room—named for the 1/8th scale Carolwood Pacific Railroad that was in Walt’s backyard in the early 1950s and filled with authentic artifacts from that time—or relaxing with family at Geyser Point, it often feels like the calmest place on property.
