№ 418 Antique Coral

A rare antique coral bead is suspended inside a rustic sterling silver ring. Coral, though often categorized as a gemstone, is more closely related to shells, being comprised mostly of calcium carbonate.  Coral is believed to be a symbol of protection and thought to soothe emotions, especially for those experiencing significant changes in life.  I use antique coral beads from Morocco and Nigeria, these beads are often around 100-200 years old. Pendant is ¾” long and hangs from a delicate but sturdy chain measuring 18” and is finished with a 9mm lobster claw clasp.  All metal is oxidized sterling silver.
