Available is an antique oil painting on stretched canvas. This charming piece of art is elegantly rustic, with some paint loss along the edges. Yet it retains the serene spirit of the scene it evoke: a calm pond, reflecting the trees and houses standing on its edge, with a boy in a boat floating near swans. The back of the canvas has the words "Iffley Mill on Thames near Oxford." Iffley Mill was a historic watermill on the River Thames near Oxford, but it was destroyed by a fire in 1908 and was never rebuilt. The site is now a garden, and visitors can see old millstones leaning against a nearby house and a wall plaque commemorating the mill. The area is still a picturesque spot on the Thames Path and is notable for Iffley Lock. Unframed stretched canvas. Illegible signature on bottom right corner. Brass hanging bracket attached to back stretcher. Sourced in England.
