A friend showed me a glass vase he was using to sprout an amaryllis this winter, and I immediately thought I could do better. You be the judge - of the vase, not of this shallot posing as an amaryllis bulb! The mouth of the vase is 2.5" wide at the top, and can support a bulb with a minimum girth of 1.5" (otherwise it'd fall into the water!)
