Sioux Doll / 1880

A doll of female form, constructed from native-tanned hide and beaded with sinew-sewn seed beads. The head features a scalp of human hair with a simplistic face and dentalium shell ear drops. The yoke is beaded with a blue field, whereby a central cross is flanked by two "x" motifs using red "white heart" and yellow beads, with a white trim. A brass concho belt wraps the waist above a similarly decorated skirt.
