This dagger has all the traditional trappings of a Bhutanese dozum - The handle with silver wire; wooden scabbard with silver r mounts -and the intricate details - both carved and etched. Sections of the silver work is gilded and intact. Known as “dozum”, -with an angled chisel point blade that narrowed to a point, this short dagger made of steel was light and utilitarian and covered with a wooden sheath faced with metal -copper, silver and gilded silvers. Larger length knives -shaped like swords were reserved for aristocracy and govt officials. This rare beauty is of a quality rarely seen on the market, and the details on it, attest to its commission by someone of means and importance.
