Antique see- through Chinese robe/ Dress made with antique Chinese silk gauze

An informal Chinese antique summer robe - made with a sheer summer gauze and fashioned into a robe to be worn over light summer clothing . Made with hand, gauze fabrics such as this one is exceptionally rare, made in a single monochromatic color and with very simple imperial motif -that of a round  medallion. The gauze fabric is very light and consists of a tiny mesh of threads that form the material of the robe and is see through. The wearer would wear a simple dress in light silk fabric and wear the gauze dress over. The patterns on the gauze would be visible against the light color of the  silk fabric underneath. The dress was made in the early 20th C and measure 5ft 2inches X 4ft 2 inches.
