Cocoa trees have been naturalized to many tropical areas around the world. The cocoa tree has dark green leaves and delicate flowers which are produced directly on the older branches and trunk. The flowers develop into long pods, which contain a large number of beans. The beans are the source of cocoa and cocoa butter which are made into the chocolate treats many of us love.
