Imperial Russian Medal – For Turkish Troops 1833, Nicholas I – Replica Material: Brass (modern reproduction; originals were struck in gold and silver) Diameter: approx. 29 mm (1.14 in) Weight: approx. 13 g (0.46 oz) This is a modern replica medal, inspired by the Imperial Russian Medal for Turkish Troops of 1833. The original award was created under Emperor Nicholas I to commemorate the cooperation between Russian and Turkish forces when Ottoman troops camped alongside the Russian landing detachment at Gaukh-Ker-Iskelesi (“Sultan’s Pier”) on the Bosphorus. Gold versions were awarded to generals and officers, with only 168 produced (8 of them decorated with diamonds).
