Jumbo Muscadine Grape (female)
Vitis rotundifolia 'Jumbo' The Jumbo Muscadine is a vigorous, woody vine that produces large clusters of huge, purplish-black fruit late in the season. The Jumbo is a female that will need a self-fertile pollinator. Any self-fertile muscadine will work, for example, Carlos or Nesbitt. Dark purple, almost black grapes are excellent for snacking, jams, jellies, and preserves. The Jumbo tolerates the cold well and produces grapes that can be the size of a golf ball. *Deer may browse* Photo courtesy of: Bottoms Nursery in Concord, GA & Toms Creek Nursery in Denton, NC Ornamental Characteristics Category Fruit Vine Foliage Type Deciduous Height 8' - 12' Spread 8' - 20' Shape Climbing Primary Foliage Color Green Seasonal Foliage Color Straw-colored Flowering Season Late Spring to Early Summer Flower Color Insignificant Berries Dark Purple Environmental Characteristics Growth Rate Fast Sun Preferences Full Sun Water Preferences Average - Prep
