Purple Diamond Loropetalum
Loropetalum chinense 'Shanghi' Purple Diamond Purple Diamond is typical of all loropetalums, except that it is dwarf in form. Its cascading branches are covered in dark purple-red leaves and spider-like dark magenta flowers. Blooms are heavy in spring, of course, and also appear occasionally in summer and again in fall. Purple Diamond is a recent introduction and is the first loropetalum with leaves that are completely purple on both top and underside of leaves. *Deer Resistant* Photos courtesy of Toms Creek Farm & Nursery in Denton, NC (336) 857-2131 Ornamental Characteristics Category Fringe Flowering Shrub Foliage Type Evergreen Height 4' - 5' Spread 4' - 5' Shape Upright, irregularly Rounded Primary Foliage Color Burgundy Seasonal Foliage Color Burgundy Flowering Season Spring (primarily) Flower Color Purply-magenta Prized for Foliage Yes Environmental Characteristics Growth Rate Moderate Sun Pr
