Bohemian, aristocrat, and notable Bloomsburian author Vita Sackville-West was also an accomplished gardener, restoring and expanding with her husband, Harold Nicolson, the grounds at Sissinghurst Castle in the ‘30s and transforming them into some of the most famous plots in England. Country Notes is a horticultural classic, the diary of a thoughtful, enigmatic plantswoman as she observes the sights, sounds, and scents of the changing seasons in one of the world’s most influential landscapes.
