Yoshi Morohashi began his carpentry work as an apprentice at the age of 16. While studying alongside master carpenters, Morohashi worked on over 100 houses in Tokyo and Yokohama. Yoshi traveled to New York in 1974, longing to explore more creative freedom in woodworking. With an arsenal of classically trained skills from his seminal years in Japan, he opened a woodworking shop. During his time in New York, he participated in multiple projects with well recognized artists and architects. Yoshi and his team received the Distinguished Architecture Award for his collaboration with Tod Williams and Billie Tsien on the Eisenberg residence.
