A Very Interesting War of 1812 Period British/American Secondary Martial Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol by J & G JONES

  A Very Interesting War of 1812 Period British/American Secondary Martial Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol by J & G JONES, circa, 1800.  9", .62 caliber brass octagon to round swamped smooth-bore, pin-fastened, barrel engraved on the top flat "LONDON".  The barrel has (2) small "Crown" over "Crossed Scepter" proof marks located on the left side flat of the breech.  The flat stepped lock plate is signed by the maker "J & G JONES" with simple decorative engraving and has no frizzen bridal.  The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration.  All brass furniture includes an engraved trigger guard with acorn finial and a vacant shield wrist escutcheon.  The grip of the stock has flattened sides and is branded on the left side of the stock just behind the rear side nail (rear lock screw) with the large letters "W T" (should be further researched!) and has a few age stress cracks, scratches and dings from years of handling/service.  Older brass tipped replacement wood ram rod.  In
