The Green Man motif has its roots in ancient deities associated with nature, plant growth and wildlife. In art and sculpture, a green man is typically depicted with vines, leaves, and branches sprouting out of a man's face or head. These Green Man cufflinks (circa 1890-1910) are fashioned silver and feature open mouths with round amethyst stones. They would be a lovely addition to any gentleman's wardrobe. The cufflinks are unmarked, but acid test for at least 900 silver. The face of each cufflink is 1 inch (26mm) long by 0.7 inches (17mm) wide. The overall condition is very good; however, one of the gargoyles has a ding in its nose and some solder repair work to the back (as depicted in the photos). Materials: sterling silver, silver, amethyst.
