I wrote and illustrated this book as a celebration of my hometown, Traverse City, Michigan. The Legend of the Cherry Prince is a children’s picture book that honors the landscape, traditions, and community spirit of Traverse City. The story offers a straightforward message about responsibility, local heritage, and how ordinary people—especially children—can help protect the places they care about. The book follows a young boy who is unexpectedly crowned the Cherry Prince. Along with the title, he is given a set of magical cherries said to hold special powers. When developers threaten the town’s cherry orchards, the boy initially hopes these magical gifts will provide an easy solution.
