IDUN PERFUME OIL ~ Apple Vetiver Vanilla Amber Leather Aloeswood Musk

In Norse mythology, Idun is the goddess of eternal youth, her name translating from Old Norse as "The Rejuvenating One."  She's a member of the Aesir tribe.Her role in the mythology and religion of Norse and other Germanic peoples is rather obscure, unfortunately.  However, she features prominently in one of the most well-known Norse mythological tales, The Kidnapping of Idun.  In this story, Idun is depicted as the keeper and dispenser of a fruit that imparts immortality and is of great importance to the gods.  In modern books, this fruit is generally considered to be apples.  From an actual historical perspective, apples were not introduced into Scandinavia until the late middle ages.  The Old Norse word for apple, epli, was often used to denote any nut or fruit... so the true nature of this mysterious fruit or nut is not actually known.  That said, I created this scent with "Idun and the Apples", a painting by James Doyle Penrose, in mind.
