At the beautiful beginning was an ugly idea | 48 Piece Puzzle
Brian Kindamo is a tattooer and jack of all trades in the realm of art. A bicentennial baby, raised by saturday morning cartoons, Kindamo is drenched in the fast and loose. No matter the medium, his style revels in the lowbrow/american traditional tattoo styles. Also referred to as American, Western, or Old School - Traditional tattoos are known by clean black outlines, vivid colors and minimal shading. Naturally though, individual artists work within these guidelines but are still able to work their own perspective in to each piece. Kindamo’s art is a sort of witness testimonial. Rooted in history, with an eye to the societal decay, mystic symbolism, the individual versus the whole, hope and despair, trust and loyalty, beauty and birth, destruction, love and everything in between - that surrounds us in the here and now. This union of boldness and complexity, in a straightforward minimalist style, is perfectly illustrated in the painting, At the beautiful beginning was an ugly idea.
