An ongoing piece of our ever evolving Smyrna Collection, Adam has created a new print inspired directly by the central building that gave Smyrna it's reason to exist. For the history buffs, the train depot was originally erected in 1851, It was funded by a charter from the State of Tennessee granted in 1845 to the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad to connect this area with the seaports of Charleston and New Orleans. It was replaced in 1873 shortly after the incorporation of the Town of Smyrna in 1869, and then finally renovated to its current form in 2014. With that timing, it's easy to see how the Train Depot gave Smyrna the start of it's town identity as a place transportation happens. While the Depot is not currently active as a train stop for freight or passengers, (nor is it likely to be again) it does provide a unique snapshot into what the area used to be like.
