Oak Tree 'Pin Oak'

The Quercus Palustris - Pin Oak Tree is an easy to care for fast growing, pyramidal shape shade tree. This oak's name comes from the many short, pin-like branchlets on the main branches that, unlike other oaks, arch out and can sometimes droop. Has glossy, dark green leaves with 5-7 lobes that are separated by very deep sinuses, in autumn they turn a scarlet and bronze shade and some can persist through the winter. Produces insignificant brown flowers that fruit into small acorns and attract all types of wildlife.  The national champion pin oak is 110' tall and resides in Tennessee.
