$5.85

Vintage 6-panel 2-sided timetable from 1957 for the Pennsylvania Railroad New York - Philadelphia - Baltimore - Washington DC Northeast Corridor train service.  The schedule was effective 3:01 AM April 28, 1957. The brochure includes train schedules for the New York and Philadelphia to/from Washington D.C. service, information on parlor sleeping and dining cars, info on train telephone service for Pullman car passengers on select trains, train fare and pullman car fares, general info for passengers, baggage handling info, and a list of PRR city ticket offices. The schedule also has several small ads for long forgotten hotels: Hotel Commodore (NYC), The Lord Baltimore Hotel (Baltimore), The Drake (Philadelphia), Southern Hotel (Baltimore), Hotel Harrington (DC), and The Walker-Hasslinger Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge (Baltimore). The schedule was printed in the USA by Cuneo Press.  It measures 7 1/2" x 3.25" folded, and 7 1/2" x 19 1/2" unfolded. The schedule is in very good condition with a light yellowing streak from age on the front cover (see photos). History: Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) operated the DC to NYC Northeast Corridor service from circa 1900 to 1968 when PRR merged with New York Central to form Penn Central.  Amtrak took over the service in 1971 following Penn Central's bankruptcy.  The DC to NYC service has been fully electric powered since 1935.
