In a series known as Magnetic Watches, the Milgauss has a long history within Rolex Lore. Launched in 1954, it was the first Rolex watch to shield a movement from magnetic fields. At the time, most watches were resistant to about 50 to 100 gauss – about the strength of a refrigerator magnet. Per the name it is resistant to 1000 gauss.
