When I first saw the coin, I was like, "Awww, how cute!" It's a Martian with big eyes and an adorable smile. But then I noticed something else: the engraving on the coin said "In Gold We Trust." I was suddenly struck by the irony of it all. Here we are on Mars, a planet that is rich in gold, and yet we don't use it as currency. Instead, we use these little pieces of paper called credits which are essentially worthless outside of our own little bubble. But this coin...this coin is different.
