Starbase 10

It is morning on Starbase and the sun is just peeking over the horizon. The stars are still shining bright in the sky, but they are slowly fading as the sun starts to rise. Starbase is a busy place this time of day as people start their shifts and begin their tasks for the day. There has been a lot of activity lately as they prepare for an important visitor from Earth. The base commander walks into her office and sits down at her desk. She checks her messages and then looks out the window at Mars' red landscape. She can see one of the rovers driving around outside and she knows that there are many more exploring beneath the surface. It's amazing to think about how far humanity has come in such a short time; it feels like only yesterday that we were first setting foot on Mars. She gets up from her desk and heads towards where she knows everyone will be gathered this morning: Mission Control.
