The 1981-S01 spring has approximately 15% less centering preload than the factory-equipped spring. In contrast, the 1981-S03 spring offers approximately 15% more centering preload than the factory-equipped spring . If you find the centering force on your 1981 shifter to be a little lighter or stiffer than you’d like, one of these spring upgrades may be a good option for you.
