Toes in the Water
One morning while in Gulf Shores I knew I wanted to shoot on the beach. Having seen nothing that directly jumped out at me while down there scoping out the beach I decided to photograph the pier. I was all set up for my shot when the color started to come on. I saw a heron walking the shoreline hunting and grabbed my telephoto and started clicking. I soon realized that I was there long enough and standing still enough that it did not see me as a threat. I set down my telephoto and slowly picked up my tripod and moved down the shoreline until the heron was in my shot. I kept shooting and praying that a shot would turn out. Not very many did as the heron was not standing still and to get the effect that I wanted with the water I had to be shooting a slower shutter than I would have liked. This means that each time the heron moved it would be blurry. Had to anticipate when it would take a step and when it would stop all while timing the waves to get the right look and composition!
