I painted this on a piece of blue-grey sanded pastel paper. I let much of the paper show through in the water and just 'scumbled' across it to create some light and dark areas. My references were a study I painted on site and pictures I snapped as the clouds moved through. This is a part of the American River that has been the inspiration for many of my paintings.
