The Jurupari Geophagus, scientifically known as Satanoperca jurupari, is a peaceful South American cichlid that gets its "Earth Eater" nickname from its natural behavior of sifting through sand for food. These fish are characterized by a tan or grayish-brown body with iridescent golden-green hues, vertical stripes, and a striking metallic sheen that becomes more vivid with age.
