This is a fabulous piece of Pre Columbian pottery. It is an Olla with animal figural handles - from a reference book, they most closely resemble ant-eaters. This piece is from the Panama - Columbian region, and is circa 800-1200AD. It has wear consistent for its age - it has hairline cracks and heavy staining to the surface. It is the traditional "armadillo wear" Pre Columbian composition - terra cotta clay finish. It is also known as Tarrago pottery, or biscuit ware.It measures about 4" tall by 5.5" wide. This is part of a collection that was purchased out of Western Mass by a life long collector. Each piece has been checked for authenticity. It is an amazing collection! Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thanks for looking!
