This is a fabulous piece of Pre Columbian pottery. It is an Olla with animal handles, a very interesting design. One appears to be the head of an alligator - the other is a crawling animal. It's a great example of this type of pottery! It has an exaggerated tall rim and a rounded base. This piece is from the Panama - Columbian region, and is circa 800-1200AD. It has wear consistent for its age. It has a few chips to the rim. It is the traditional "armadillo wear" Pre Columbian composition - terra cotta clay finish. It is also known as Tarrago pottery, or biscuit ware.It measures about 6" tall by 6" wide. This is part of a collection that was purchased out of Western Mass by a life long collector. Each piece has been checked for authenticity. It is an amazing collection! Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thanks for looking!
