Antique Japanese Bronze Jardiniere with Sea Dragon Relief with Stand Circa 1890
This is a very lovely two piece jardinière - consisting of the pot and the matching stand. It has raised dragon decorations throughout - and the opening is ringed with a repeating pattern. The jardinière is made of bronze and is very heavy and solid. The base of the pot has some wear and patina. There are no makers' marks on the pot or the stand. The sea dragon that makes its way around this jardinière is most likely Japanese, because of the three toes present on its feet (Chinese dragons typically have four). This set measures about 22 inches tall by 15 inches wide. There are some holes worn through the material from age - including in the stand. The pot has a section that has been worn almost through - maybe from prolonged exposure to water - and it has a significant amount of patina. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
