Sambucese is the private brand of a new New York based importing company, Verde Imports, founded by Charlie Verde, that specializes in Italian, and mostly Sicilian, wines. The line of wines, produced in Sambuca di Sicilia, on the island’s southern coast, comprises three reds, two whites, and a rose. This red is 100% Nero d’Avola, a grape native to Sicily; it is dark and intense, with a range of fruity notes on the nose and a palate offering a good body, round tannins, and good length that leads to a fruity finish.
