Psychiatric Service Dog Travel Letter
Airlines no longer accept Emotional Support Animals to fly free in cabin of plane but they do allow for Psychiatric Service Dogs to still fly free. US Department of Transportation rules all airlines MUST ACCEPT psychiatric service animals (PSA) in the main cabin. The assessment for a PSA is the same as an ESA. The only difference is the customer must certify in writing to the airline that their dog has been trained to assist them with their psychiatric disability. Their dog can be trained by anyone including themselves. Psychiatric Service Dogs are also welcome in hotels.
