Cal Cols 'Rosat' 2022

Cal Cols is made by a couple in the Penedes who were marching to the beat of their own drum before the natural wine movement came along. Surrounded by commercial Cava producers, they have about 7 hectares under vine and make a living selling their organic fruit, almonds, and produce at local farmers markets.  Their Rosat is made from 100% Merlot, planted in the 1990s when that was the trend. Merlot typically comes with a lot of baggage but this one leaves it all behind. It's almost like pink Starburst juice with a light dusting of tannin. Super delicious and pleasureable. Jonathan Kemp
