Ancient Islamic period Evil Eye glass beads.  These are frequently found in Mali,  in the areas of D'Jenne and Gao, where they were traded along the sub-Saharan caravan routes.  Similar beads are also found in Mauritania.  These beads are stunning, coming in blue and sometimes green, with white, black, yellow, green, and sometimes red eyes - rather rare combinations. They are dated to the Islamic Period, between the 8th and 12th century AD. The beads are ancient and somewhat irregular in shape. Every bead is unique.   As these are ancient beads, nicks and chips are expected.
