Red Rainbow Corn Landrace

Zea Mays Days to Maturity: 120-140 (plant in late April-mid May) Gorgeous rainbow native flour/grinding corn. A landrace of many native corns bred together over 10+ years: Hopi blue, Millenium, Oaxacan green dent, Oaxacan blue, Hopi pink, Navajo Robin's Egg and more. Plant and enjoy harvesting a new rainbow in each ear! Expect red, blue and some white & yellow kernels in a diverse array of tones and patterns. We love the often deep red-colored corn pollen (see last photo!). Make tortillas, tamales, cornbread, stews and more! Boil with lime for 1-2 hours to nixtamalize and then grind into masa using a food processor, blender or grain mill. Or simply boil whole nixtamalized kernels into hearty stews. Also a beautiful ornamental and ceremonial corn. Planting Instructions: Plant corn seeds 6" deep in late April-mid May in clumps of 5 seeds per hole, spaced 3-5 feet apart. No thinning is necessary.
