A 1960s olive drab canvas rucksack with hand-painted suffragette imagery.  Flat lay measurements:Top to bottom 11.5Width 11.5Depth 4.5   Inspiration: The front panel was inspired by photographs of a mock prison cell for Suffragettes erected at The Women's Exhibition held in London in May 1909 demonstrating the rough conditions suffragettes experienced in a 2nd Division Cell. The inner front panel features a continuation of the mock suffragette prison exhibition, an early 1900s pinback and banner as well as Lady Justice and the suffragette rose icon, both used heavily throughout the fight for women’s rights as an easily spotted sign of support. The top right image of a woman holding a Votes for Women banner is inspired by the 1913 poster distributed at that time. The left side panel features an assortment of suffragette pinbacks from the early 1900s. The right panel features the suffragette bluebird sign used in Massachusetts in 1915.
