Riddles in the Dark | JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings

Riddles in the Dark is one of my all-time favorite chapters in JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.  It is here that Bilbo first encounters Gollum and the two enter a battle of wits.  These LOTR riddles are fun to share with others to test their skill. Biblo, hopelessly lost after his narrow escape from the capture of the Goblins (and I won't give away much more than that!!) happens on a creature named Gollum in the dark tunnels under the mountain and enters a battle of riddles. After a few exchanges between he and Gollum, Bilbo can no longer think of any riddles and instead asks Gollum to guess the contents of his pocket.  Enraged at the unfair 'riddle', it's a good thing that Bible had Sting by his side to keep Gollum from.... well, I'll let you read that part! This 10-1/2" x 17-1/2" engraving includes all seven lotr riddles that Gollum and Bilbo ask one another in Chapter 5 of The Hobbit.  The font used adds a bit of charm to the piece as it has a Hobbit-type feel to it.  Answers are, of cours
