Antique Arts & Crafts Necklace by William Hair Haseler for Liberty & Co
William Hair Haseler was a renowned silversmith during the turn of the (last) century. Born in Birmingham, England in 1821, he founded his company in 1870. It specialized in gold and silver work. At around the same time, the famous department store of Liberty and Company opened and quickly became a must-shop hub of world goods that promoted the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts styles. In 1898, Haseler and Liberty created a formal partnership and launched the Cymric line using freelance designers. They’re partnership was a natural fit as both companies held an affinity for the natural grace of leaves, flowers, and ornamental lines which graced the two concurrent movements. After Haseler’s death, the partnership continued until 1926. This rare and fabulous Arts & Crafts silver enamel necklace was handcrafted around 1900 by William Hair Haseler, whose pieces were retailed by Liberty and Company. It features a drop pendant with a blue and green foliate motif that measures 32.5 x 27
