Antique Edwardian 3 Stone Opal and Diamond Ring in 18k Gold

I’m always on the lookout for marvelous opal rings, and I often come across  3 and 5 stone varieties in the very typical English Victorian fashion, but I have to admit that when I saw this particular ring my jaw just about hit the floor. Once I had lifted said jaw and tucked it back neatly into place, I had no choice but to slip this large and luscious beauty onto my finger and bring it home with me. This is, without a doubt, the biggest, boldest and most fabulous example of a 3 stone ring I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  Far, oh so very far, from typical.Hand crafted in 18 karat gold around the turn of the (last) century, this circa 1900 ring is graced with three voluptuous opals with fantastic play of color in flashes of blue, green, orange, red and yellow.  The center stone is an approximately 1.7 carat round cabochon gem and the two side opals are cabochon egg shapes that add up to another 1.2 carats in bright opal gems.
