There is something of a miniature landscape hidden in the heart of this ring. At the center lies a dendritic agate, its branching inclusions resembling a tree silhouetted against a pale sky. Around it glows a halo of deep red garnets, foiled and flat-cut, each one closed-backed to catch and reflect the light with an inner warmth. Together they form a jewel that feels both natural and regal, as if plucked from the pages of a romantic Georgian tale. Dating from around 1820, this ring is crafted in a mix of 15 and 12 karat gold. The ten garnets measure about 4.5 mm each, surrounding the central agate of 11 x 8.5 mm. Altogether, the face measures 23 mm north to south, 20 mm across, and 4.9 mm deep. The band is 2.4 mm wide, and the ring weighs 5.37 grams. It is a US size 7. The shank shows decorative engraving typical of the period, completing the piece with a flourish of detail.
