Antique Pearl Frame Locket Pendant by Murrle Bennett & Co.

Oh, the first haircut is one of the first firsts in life as a parent. What to do then, with baby’s first curl? Someone had the right idea, put it in a locket and wear it, it’ll keep for a life time and then some. A curl of the finest baby hair set with golden wire and a pearl graces the front of this locket. This double sided beauty shows a photo of a young boy to the reverse. This is one of Murrle, Bennett and Company’s earlier pieces, made during the Victorian era, around 1895 or so. This wonderful pendant was hand crafted in 9 karat gold, it’s set with 49 small pearls in a circle with a bow on top. This piece measures 45.3 mm top to bottom including the bale and 29.4 mm across and 6.3 mm thick, weighs 7.7 grams. It is marked to the reverse with ‘9k’ and ‘MB & Co.’.
