"Blythe to meet,
Wae to part,
Blythe to meet aince mair"—The “Bon-Accord,” the motto of Aberdeen, Scotland. It translates as “Joyful to meet together; Woeful to part; Joyful to meet once more.”This beautiful brooch is made from silver and Scottish granite, most likely mined in Aberdeen. Four hearts, reminiscent of the traditional Claddagh, meet at their points to make a cross, which is encircled in a neat silver and granite ring. The rich granite is mottled with black, gray, green and white, and brings to mind dappled sunlight on a pebbley stream. The handsome brooch tests as silver and is marked on the back with its date of origin, “FEB. 11. 1865,” as well as “REGISTERED J.R.H.” It weighs 15.7 grams and measures 44.2 mm by 46.5 mm and is 10.2 mm in depth. You can imagine a young man of the Highlands pinning this brooch onto his tartan plaid to keep out the blowing winds. Today, as in the past, Scottish granite exudes the strength and beauty of the hills and heather. Wear it with prid
